MRCEM Notes

Pericardium

The pericardium has an outer fibrous layer and inner serous layer. The serous layer is further split into parietal and visceral layers with a pericardial space in between that contains pericardial fluid.

The parietal layer is fused to the fibrous pericardium whilst the visceral pericardium can be considered part of the epicardium.
