Enterobacteriaceae

Enterobacteriaceae are a large family of enteric gram negative bacteria.
They can lead to a wide variety of infections. E Coli is a member of the family and is the most common cause of urinary tract infection.
Klebsiella , Salmonella, Yersinia, Proteus and Shigella are also members of the family. Enterococcus is not - this is a type of streptococcus.
Prevention is generally via good hygiene
