Corneal Reflex

The corneal reflex is the involuntary blinking of the eyelids due to stimulation of the cornea. It is a somatic reflex It that is obliterated in anaesthesia. Contact lens use dampens the response.

The afferent limb is mediated by the trigeminal nerve and the efferent limb is mediated by the facial nerve.
